What’s happening to 3G on Vodafone?
Earlier this year, Vodafone announced that they will be retiring their 3G network in 2023. This move has been made to allow Vodafone to concentrate on improving their service on the 4 and 5G networks and to futureproof their network.
The 3G switch off is due to commence in January 2023, firstly in specific areas, and then regionally, with the full 3G switch off due to be completed by 30th September 2023.
We are giving Vodafone customers advanced notice now, so you can be prepared for the switch off of 3G, if you have not already done so.
What does this mean for you?
Primarily, this means that any older devices that are 3G-only enabled should be changed to a 4G device that supports 4G Calling (called VoLTE).
As part of the switch off, Vodafone will be enabling 4G Calling and 4G data on all business services. They will also be enabling 4G on complex products such as APNs. If your business services have not been enabled yet for 4G, please get in touch with us for support. Basically, you need to let go any ‘old tech’ device you may still be using.
In the meantime, if you believe that your device may not be 4G or 5G enabled, please get in touch with us and we can advise you accordingly. Contact email@example.com.
